Innovations in technology since Disney started in 1923 have changed how the movies are created, but the company has always sought to base its animated icons on real people and animals in order to create realistic and fully rounded characters. Many of the most memorable have been based on actors and models who would have been filmed acting out scenes from the films so the animators had something to study and drawn inspiration from.
#1. Marge Champion – Snow White
One of Disney’s best loved characters is Snow White. For the movie ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ (1937) the company hired a young dancer called Marjorie Belcher later Marge Champion to act out the role of Snow White.
Her performance became the model for how future live-action reference was shot, reports The FW. Dressed in the character’s costume, she danced and acted out scenes from the film with stand-in props.
