36.9 million people are living with HIV worldwide

     Globally, an estimated 36.9 million (34.3–41.4 million) people were living with human immunodeficiency virus in 2014, and 2.6 million       (2.4–2.8 million) of these were children. The vast majority of people living with human immunodeficiency virus are in low- and middle-income countries. An estimated 2.0 million (1.9–2.2 million) people were newly infected with the virus in 2014.  An estimated 34 million people have died from AIDS-related causes so far, including 1.2 million (1.0–1.5 million) in 2014.  Source: unaids.org
